Ivan Sugianto, a man who instructed students from SMAK Gloria 2 Surabaya to apologize by bowing down and barking like a dog, has been arrested by the police. Following his arrest, Ivan was named a suspect.

Arrest and Suspect Status

• Arrest: Ivan was arrested around 4:00 PM local time by a joint team of officers. He arrived at the Surabaya City Police Headquarters (Mapolrestabes Surabaya) at 5:22 PM.

• Suspect Declaration: The decision to name Ivan as a suspect was made following a case review involving examination of 11 witnesses. The information was conveyed by Kombes Dirmanto, the Head of Public Relations for East Java Regional Police, as reported by detikJatim on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Focus on Bullying Case

Dirmanto urged the media to focus on the handling of the bullying case perpetrated by Ivan, stating:

“Let’s focus on this case. Don’t redirect the questions elsewhere; we are concentrating on the handling of this case.”

The incident at SMAK Gloria 2 Surabaya, where Ivan’s child was teased and bullied by classmates, led to the following events:

• Initial Incident: The altercation, which involved physical assault and misunderstandings, occurred on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the school premises.

Despite questions regarding Ivan’s connections to several police officials, Dirmanto emphasized that the current priority was the investigation and prosecution of the bullying incident.
